How To Make Any Smoothie Without Banana
Try using any of these ingredients instead of banana in smoothie recipes:
- Vegan yogurt and ice- About half a cup and a handful of ice per smoothie. If the yogurt is unsweetened you might need to add a date or some maple syrup to make up for the sweetness a banana would add.
- Frozen zucchini, cauliflower, or avocado - They all add an amazing creamy texture when blended into smoothies and have a mild flavor.
- Cooked sweet potato, pumpkin, or squash - Makes smoothies smooth and velvety. Best used frozen for ultra-creaminess. Try freezing it in ice cube trays so you can pop some out when you need it.
- Frozen mango - Thickens and gives a creamy texture while being gentle enough not to overpower whatever else you've got going on.
- Cooked carrots or beets - They both have a hint of sweetness, making them a great option for smoothies.
- Chickpeas - They thicken, add creaminess, and give a massive protein boost! If you've tried my amazing Lemon Cheesecake Smoothie you'll know how well they work!
- Canned fruits - Like pineapple, peaches, or pears.
Higher Protein Smoothies
These vegan smoothies all have over 14 grams of protein. Increase the protein content of these and any other smoothie by using soy milk, a scoop of protein powder, or by adding ingredients like tofu, chickpeas, oats, nuts, seeds, greens, and avocado.
Lower Calorie Smoothies
These smoothies all have less than 320 calories. Perfect for when you need a lighter breakfast or daytime snack.
