Wholesome, sweet, fudgy and super satisfying Chocolate Orange Blender Baked Oats!
These yummy little pots of deliciousness are so quick and easy to make. Blitz the batter up in a blender, pour into ramekins, decorate the tops then bake.
I mean I guess baked oats don’t have to be made in the easiest possible way (hello blender), but honestly, when they taste this yummy and cake-like, why wouldn’t you?
The recipe makes two convenient portions but doubles easily and they are perfect for breakfast or for a healthy dessert or snack. You'll love the dense, almost fudgy cakey texture, and the not overly sweet, chocolate orange flavor.
I love them just as they are for breakfast but a dollop of dairy-free yogurt would be a great addition, or if for dessert some ice cream or whipped cream would be very nice!

Ingredients
It takes very few things for these blended baked oats to come together. Here is what you need at a glance, along with some important ingredient notes & substitution ideas:
- Oats - Rolled, old fashioned, or quick oats are all fine. You could even use oat flour.
- Cocoa - This can be natural or Dutch processed. It doesn't matter in this recipe.
- Chocolate - Use chocolate chips or chunks. I'm loving the Enjoy Life Mega Chunks right now so that's what I used here. You could also use a chopped chocolate bar.
- Orange - This should be a large fresh juicy orange like a Navel because you need the zest and the juice, as well as a slice for decoration. Most of the concentrated flavor is in the zest of citrus fruits so it's important you don't just use orange juice from a bottle.
- Dairy-free milk - Any such as cashew milk, soy milk, oat milk, or almond milk will do.
- Sugar - This can be white, cane, brown, or coconut sugar. I've even tested this with maple syrup and it works really well so use whatever you've got.

These baked oats should be enjoyed warm but they reheat like a dream so don't worry if you have leftovers!
Recipe
Chocolate Orange Blended Baked Oats
Author:WATCH HOW TO MAKE IT
Ingredients
- zest from 1 large orange , such as navel
- ¼ cup (60 ml) orange juice (from the zested orange)
- 1 cup (100 grams) oats , (rolled, old fashioned or quick)
- 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 3 tablespoons sugar , any type, maple syrup is also ok
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup (120 ml) dairy-free milk
- a big handful chocolate chips , or chunks
RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 360°F (180°C) and have 2 ramekins sitting ready on a small baking tray. Skip this step if using an air fryer.
- Before you zest the orange cut a nice slice from one end to save for decoration later. You'll probably need to cut a couple of slices off before you get through to a fleshy bit. Set aside for later.
- Zest the rest of the orange and add to your blender. Then cut the rest of the orange into quarters and squeeze out the juice. You need ¼ cup (60ml). There should be plenty but in the unlikely event you don't have quite enough make it up to ¼ cup with a little extra milk.
- Add the orange juice to the blender along with the oats, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, and milk. Blend until smooth.
- Pour evenly between 2 ramekins. Poke some chocolate chips down into the batter with a clean finger.
- Cut the reserved slice of orange in half and rest a piece gently on top of the batter in each ramekin then decorate with some more chocolate chips.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or place in an air fryer basket and air fry at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes. They look done way before they are actually are so it's important to check with a toothpick, thin knife or skewer before removing. It should come out clean when stuck into the centre.
- Remove carefully and devour immediately.

Oooh! One of my all-time favorite flavor combinations! I used to scour the stores at the holidays looking for those break-apart chocolate oranges. This sounds just as yummy, and much healthier! I see myself having these for breakfast or dessert! Thank you! <3
