    Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you need to make a homemade Vegan Pumpkin Spice Latte:

ingredients needed to make a vegan pumpkin spice latte
    • Pumpkin spice syrup ( or a combo of pumpkin puree, brown sugar/maple syrup and pumpkin spice)
    • Espresso or strong freshly brewed coffee
    • Plant milk. I recommend using oat milk if you can because it is one of the creamiest plant-based milks. Coconut milk or cashew milk would be good alternatives. I would personally avoid soy milk and almond milk because they tend to be thinner and less creamy.
    • Vegan whipped cream of choice. (I love Gay Lea Coconut Whipped Topping for drinks like this).
    • Pumpkin pie spice (or cinnamon) for dusting.

You can make this drink in 2 ways. With pumpkin spice syrup, or with some pumpkin puree, brown sugar (or maple syrup) and pumpkin spice. I highly recommend making and keeping some pumpkin spice syrup in the fridge if you can though because it makes making a pumpkin spice latte super quick and easy and tastes amazing!

How To Make A Vegan Pumpkin Spice Latte

how to make a vegan pumpkin spice latte step by step

    If using pumpkin spice syrup:

    1. Add the syrup to a mug.
    2. Pour over the espresso/coffee then top up with hot milk stirring really well.
    3. Top with lots of dairy-free whipped cream.
    4. Dust with pumpkin spice.

If you want to skip the cream, you can froth the milk with a handheld milk frother, OR pour the syrup, hot milk and coffee into a high speed blender and blend until nice and frothy before pouring into your mug.

    If not using syrup:

    1. Whisk together the oat milk, pumpkin puree, brown sugar and pumpkin spice in a pan until hot.
    2. Pour coffee into a mug, then top up with the milky mixture.
    3. Top with dairy-free whipped cream and a dusting of pumpkin spice.
    4. If you want to skip the whipped cream you can pour the hot pumpkin milk mixture and the coffee into a blender and blend on high for 30 seconds or so to make it really frothy before pouring into your mug.

How To Make An Iced Vegan Pumpkin Spice Latte

    1. Fill a jar with some ice. Add some pumpkin spice syrup and espresso/strong coffee and shake until foamy.
    2. Pour into a glass then top up with creamy oat milk.

    Recipe FAQs

Is Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte vegan?

As of the time of writing (2022), whether you can get a vegan pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks or not depends where you are in the world. The pumpkin spice sauce used to make the beverage in America and Canada contains dairy. But, the pumpkin spice sauce in some parts of Europe (UK, Netherlands, France, Switzerland, and Austria) is dairy-free, so if that's where you are, as long as you have them make it with non-dairy milk and hold the whip then your latte can indeed be vegan.

What can I use instead of pumpkin spice?

Just use some cinnamon or a bit of allspice, or you can make your own pumpkin pie spice blend to keep in the pantry. Combine:
4 teaspoons ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons ground ginger, 1 teaspoon ground cloves and ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg. Add to a jar, seal it and give it a good shake to mix everything together. Use whenever pumpkin spice is called for in a recipe.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    If using pumpkin spice syrup

    • Add a few tablespoons of syrup to a mug.
    • Pour over the hot espresso/coffee then top up with enough hot milk to almost fill your mug. Stir really well to combine.
    • Top with dairy-free whipped cream then dust with some pumpkin spice or cinnamon.
    • If you want to skip the cream, you can froth the milk with a handheld milk frother, OR pour the syrup, hot milk and coffee into a high speed blender and blend until nice and frothy before pouring into your mug.

If NOT using pumpkin spice syrup

    • To a small saucepan add the oat milk, pumpkin puree, brown sugar/maple syrup and pumpkin spice. Whisk together well over medium heat until hot.
    • Pour the hot espresso/coffee into a mug, then top up with the pumpkin/milk mixture. Top with dairy-free whipped cream and a dusting of pumpkin spice or cinnamon.
