I love having some of this Spicy Chickpea Smash in the fridge. It only takes a couple of minutes to make and keeps for up to a week. Use it as a wrap or sandwich filling, on salads, or piled on toast or a baked potato. So good!
My current fave way to eat spicy chickpea salad is on warm toast with a few slices of avocado, some microgreens, a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil, and a good grind of black pepper! (Picture included below).

Ingredients
Recipes don't get much simpler than this! Here is what you need at a glance along with some very minimal ingredient notes & substitution ideas:
- Chickpeas - I used canned chickpeas but you can use home-cooked chickpeas. White beans such as navy beans or great northern beans would also work.
- Sriracha - Use as much or as little as you like heat-wise! Remember that the heat will be diluted somewhat by whatever you serve your spicy chickpea salad with, whether that be bread, greens, or toast.
- Mayo - For the creamy factor. Use your fave vegan mayo!

Author:WATCH HOW TO MAKE IT
Ingredients
- 1 x 15oz can (1¾ cups) chickpeas , (398ml in Canada or 400g in UK)
- 4 tablespoons vegan mayo
- 1 to 2 tablespoons sriracha
- ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt , (adjust as necessary if using table salt)
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
- Smash the chickpeas - I like to pulse them in my food processor because it's so quick and easy and I like mine smashed up into very small pieces, but you can put them in a bowl and use a potato masher or a fork. Make them as smashed or chunky as you like.
- Mix it up - Add the mayo, sriracha, salt, and pepper. Start with 1 tablespoon of sriracha then add more to taste. Stir it up really well and that's it, you're done!
