I love smoothies and have one for breakfast at least three or four times a week. They are a great way to make a dent in your 5 a day and as well as being healthy they are quick and easy. Most of my smoothies tend to be kind of ad hoc though. I never plan what I am going to put in them for the week and just work with what I’ve got in the fruit bowl and the fridge that day. When it comes to the end of the week and I haven’t had time to go to the store, my smoothies begin to suffer and can be a bit hit and miss. I end up using up fruits and vegetables that are a bit past their best and flavours don’t always work perfectly.
Can you imagine having pre-measured fresh ingredients available every day so that you could make delicious and perfectly balanced smoothies whenever you want? No more searching out recipes on the internet or in books, or worrying about whether flavour combinations will work and whether you have enough fruit left in the fruit bowl.
That’s where Green Blender comes in. Each week they will deliver 5 new smoothie recipes and all the fresh pre-portioned ingredients you’ll need to make 10 smoothies straight to your door. All you need to supply is a blender and water. How’s that for convenience? With this amazing service there really is no excuse for not starting your day off right with a healthy, nutrient rich breakfast. And the good news is that Green Blender has offered to give my readers a 20% discount on their first Green Blender box! (Details at the end of this post).

Recipes include unique ingredients, whose flavour and nutritional profiles might surprise you (in a good way). In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, expect to find superfoods and add-ins like chia seeds, flaxseed, goji berries, acai berries, maca, matcha, cacao nibs, hemp protein, and much more.
You can see and try for yourself, an example of one of Green Blender’s recipes below. I love the sweet potato and orange combo!
Yields 2 x 12oz smoothies
A great pre-workout smoothie! In addition to being an excellent source of beta-carotene, vitamin C, and fiber, sweet potatoes are made up of complex carbs, which provide the perfect source of energy. Pea protein is gaining prominence among athletes for its digestibility and for being a good source of arginine, a muscle-building amino acid. Add in some almond milk for calcium and some pecans for a hit of good fat, and you’ve got an all natural energy drink designed to give you an A+ workout. Pro Tip: If your blender has trouble with sweet potatoes, lightly steam them to soften them up before blending.

2 minTotal Time
- 4 oz sweet potato
- 1 orange - peeled
